Mark and Carol Coil, along with their two sons, Ryan and Reed, moved from the southwestern suburbs of Minneapolis,  to the resort in 1988. The entire family has contributed to the running of the resort over the years. Mark has remodeled and maintains the cabins. Carol cleans the cabins and takes care
of the paperwork. Both boys learned how to paint, use a hammer and spent many mornings bailing out the boats.

Mark is also employed as a Draftsman in Hibbing, MN. He enjoys hunting and fishing. Carol, a school bus driver, enjoys sewing, gardening, and watching Twins baseball. Ryan, a graduate of the University of Minnesota, lives and works in Omaha, Nebraska. Reed is continuing his education at the University of Wisconsin - Superior and is a member of the Yellowjackets baseball team.

Also at Birch Haven, Nellie and Gracie, two black Labrador Retrievers, will welcome your arrival and be your new best friend if you throw a ball for them to fetch. There are also two house cats, but as cats go, they like to keep out of sight.
